Church: The Meaning & MIssion

Sundays, 10:00-10:45 // Dr. Tom Gibbs

The Church has fallen on tough times. In their book, The Great DeChurching, Jim Davis, Michael Graham, and Ryan Burge note that the last 25 years have seen 40 million people stop attending church in America. With almost 16% of all Americans dechurching for one reason or another, we are witnessing the most significant shift in American religious history. Is God giving up on the Church? Should we? Of course not! In this class, we’re going to explore how the Holy Spirit is continuing the ministry of Christ in and through the Church. God isn’t giving up on the Church, and neither should we. Come to this class to better understand why that’s true and why that matters.

Educational Formation

No matter if one has been a lifelong churchgoer, is a new Christian, or is simply curious about Christianity, there is much to learn about how the Bible and the Christian faith impact our day-to-day lives. At Crossroads, Adult Christian Education (ACE) classes help participants to explore various questions and topics that are pertinent to our lives, our work, and our relationships with God and others.

ACE classes, usually offered on Sunday mornings during the school year, utilize a variety of different methods (small and large group discussion, lecture, video, case studies, etc.) and are developed and taught by Crossroads members with interest and expertise in their topic.
