Our Story

A Short History of Crossroads - Maplewood

Crossroads Presbyterian Fellowship was planted by Covenant Presbyterian Church, of Town and Country. Missouri, in February, 2003 and became particularized in April, 2005. Crossroads began with the goal of bringing the Gospel in word and deed to the mid-county region of St. Louis, centering on the Maplewood/Richmond Heights area. The initial plant began with a group of about 60 core members and have grown each year to include about 250 worshippers with a diversity of backgrounds and ages each Sunday.

When Crossroads first started meeting, services were held in the local middle school cafeteria, but in August, 2005, they were able to purchase our own building, which was formerly owned by Maplewood Christian Church.  In 2007, Crossroads began some projects to increase the size of our sanctuary but even with the expansion of the sanctuary, the leadership of the church began to sense a call to look to begin either two services or start a site plant in another community of St. Louis...

A Short History of Crossroads - Olivette

The Korean Presbyterian Church began in the 1970’s with the adult worship services primarily in Korean in Kirkwood.  As the children of the Korean congregation grew into their young adults years, a part-time pastor for the young adult group was called to begin an English ministry in 1996.  The Lord blessed the ministry as it grew to around 70-80 people by 2000.

In 2001, the English ministry called its first full-time head pastor.  The church adopted the name Grace Presbyterian Church while still meeting at the Korean Presbyterian church location in Kirkwood.  The church saw the installing of our first elders and the first deaconesses.  At this point the congregation had grown to approximately 120 worshippers.  In the spring of 2006, Grace Presbyterian became particularized in the Missouri Presbytery of the PCA.  It was at this time the church also created the core values of: Gospel Driven, Missional, Multiethnic, Community, and Transformation.

The Joining and Receiving of two Churches

In the summer of 2008, the head pastor resigned from Grace Presbyterian and a search committee was formed to find a new pastor.  In the search process, the Lord opened the doors through conversations with Crossroads Presbyterian Fellowship to consider a possible merger.  After much prayer and many meetings, the leaders from Crossroads and the leaders from Grace felt the Lord was calling the churches to merge into one.  Both churches shared similar core values, shared a vision for a church plant in Olivette, and complemented each others strengths and weaknesses well. The Lord confirmed this calling as both congregations voted overwhelmingly to approve the merger in April 2009 and the official joining & receiving service took place on June 7th at the Maplewood location.
